X-Com Aliens vs. Citadel Alliance

Description

Alright :iconshadowofthehive: I see your battle between two eclectic invaders, and raise you a challenge the X-Com Aliens have never had to face. What will they do when it's not just puny humans, but a menagerie of elite alien races? Do they have the chops for it?

X-Com Aliens: From beyond the stars, from beneath the seas, from dimensions the human mind was not meant to know, the aliens of X-Com are brutal, cruel, and terrifying. Lead by the mysterious Uber-Ethereal, their motives are their own, but their goal is clear: The total domination or destruction of all mankind. And with powerful psionics, gene-modification, and a host of powerful troops at their disposal, they are a terrible foe to face.

Citadel Alliance: In a time of great crisis, the various races banded together (thanks to a certain Shepard) to fight off the Reaper threat. This alliance, one of the largest in history, consisted of Humans, Asari, Turians, Hanar, Drell, Volus, Vorcha, Krogan, Geth, Quarian, Batarians, Elcor, "Awakened" Collectors, Leviathan Enthrallment Teams, Salarians, and the criminal organization Aria. United, they are one of the strongest forces in the galaxy.

Now these two forces are about to collide. The X-Com Aliens seek to destroy and dominate all life before them, while the Citadel Alliance seek to defend their lives from brutal alien eradication (sort of like this coincidentally). Troopers face off against sectoids, Rachni will tangle with Chryssalid, Krogan and Mutons will brawl, and a million other battles will take place as a host of different races all fight for what they believe in. The power of psionics will be tested against the power of biotics. The air will fill with dogfights as a myraid of ships send each other plummeting to earth. But in the end, one army will be defeated, it's forces in shambles. Who will it be: The Invaders, or the Defenders? Only time will tell, as we continue to search for...

THE DEADLIEST WARRIOR!

*(Because I know this will pop up if I say nothing: No space battles. Planet-side only.)

(Disclaimer: Just to be clear, these two combatants were created / are owned by people far more creative / wealthier then me. I have made this, not for profit, but in the hopes of encouraging spirited discussion among fans. Please support the combatants official series. Thank you, that is all).

I have to go with the Citadel races on this.

reasons

1) The X-Com aliens were defeated by modern day or even 20th century era humans who reverse engineered their technology over time. All the citadel races would need is to do the same thing, and if humans can reverse engineer energy weapons you can be damn sure the Salarians, Quarians and Geth will easily be able to do this.

2) Human air craft that are comparable to modern day fighter jets can shoot down UFOs in the recent games. A Turian frigate would make short work of even a larger UFO, bearing in mind that even with its kinetic barriers being useless its mass accelerator could do the job in a couple clean shots while avoiding counter attacks.

3) The Citadel races have a head start on humanity from the X-Com universe. They already have advanced starships and weapons and Biotics that will give them an edge that humans sorely lack. While they aren't uber advanced in warfare like Warhammer 40k or Halo the weaponry of Mass Effect is far from useless. Where kinetic barriers fail to block a plasma shot tech armour or an Omni-Shield could succeed (they are solid barriers), or omniblades could slice through the aliens at close range.

4) The most important factor: numerous races working together to overcome the different types of alien units. Humans (Mass Effect universe), Salarians, Quarians, Batarians and Asari could easily take on the smaller units while the Krogan and Geth contend with the larger ones. Biotics would be able to change the tide of the battlefield.

5) When you combine the alien tech from X-Com with Mass Effect's efficient technology, there will be a MASSIVE boost in the efficiency of Citadel soldiers. Asari who have full on psionics, Turians augmented to use mech armour, Quarians hacking robotic enemies and sabotaging enemy weapons and equipment, Salarians cloaking themselves and navigating the whole battlefield, etc.

When it comes down to it the Citadel races would have an easier time handling these aliens than humanity did.
