Shadowlands vs. Dracula's Armies

Description

The Shadowlands: The twisted and decadent land once known as Pirra is ruled over by the Shadowlord and his malevolent forces. There, twisted experiments and dark magic have forged an army that threatens the good people of the world.

Dracula's Armies: The Prince of Darkness, Dracula leads a vast army of monsters from all across the myths and legends of humanity. With them and access to powerful magics he stands as the enemy of all humankind, ready to consume the world and all the living.

Now these two dark armies shall face each other in pitched combat. Truly evil leaders will lead armies of twisted monstrosities to do battle. Towering giants, smaller imps, and legendary beasts shall all tear into each other, until eventually only one army remains. But who? Both sides claim mastery of darkness and shadows, but it seems the only way to resolve the issue is to find out who is...

THE DEADLIEST WARRIOR!

*For those curious, Dracula's Armies is meant to include all the monsters from across the Castelvania games.

(Disclaimer: Just to be clear, these two combatants were created / are owned by people far more creative / wealthier then me. I have made this, not for profit, but in the hopes of encouraging spirited discussion among fans. Please support the combatants official series. Thank you, that is all).

I actually saw this a while ago, but I decided to think for a few days before commenting.

Now, I'll assume that the battle takes place on some sort of neutral ground, since IIRC both leaders are much more powerful in their own territory. I'll also assume that Dracula and the Shadow Lord don't actually have to be killed, just driven off, since I don't think either of them really have a way to destroy the other. With that in mind, I think that Dracula's army has the edge.

General Battle Line:

Most of the Shadow Lord's warriors are Grey Guard, which are better than the average human, but a lot of what makes them dangerous is their poisonous blisters. He also has some heavy hitters in the form of the Vraal/Green Beasts, but they are so violent that they might turn on the Shadow Lord's troops if not managed properly. Dracula, on the other hand, uses a lot of reanimated dead stuff for his frontline combatants, backed up by enchanted armors, neither of which is vulnerable to poison. Now, the general zombies and skeletons would probably be smashed in direct combat, but things like Great Axe Armors, Dead Crusaders, Frankenstein's Creature(s), and other elites would be much more difficult to kill. Dracula also has living frontliners, such as the lesser werebeasts, fleamen/rippers, and others. These ones would be more vulnerable, but so long as they used the dead troops as shields until they reached close range, their combat prowess would be very difficult to stop.

Edge: Dracula

Heavy Support:

The Shadow Lord doesn't really have any "super heavies." Dracula, meanwhile, has his larger Golems, Great Armors, Final Guards, and Shadow Knights. He also has Gergoth, which can act as a mid-ranged artillery piece, and several other bosses that will be very dangerous. It would be difficult to take any of these behemoths down with anything other than magic or concentrated assault, which would leave those Shadow Lord forces vulnerable to other attacks.

Edge: Dracula

Air Support.

Functionally, the Shadow Lord has limited air assets: the seven Ak-Baba. There are a few others that can step in, such as the guardian of the Sister of the East, but his air is still few in number. Dracula, however, has quite a few ariel assets: several Wyverns, Valkyrie/Erynis, Witches, Devils of various descriptions, Malphas, ghosts, bats and birds of various sizes, and those &%^@$&* medusa heads. The Ak-Baba are very dangerous, but they're going to be overrun by sheer force of numbers (ironically, seeing as that was how they beat the dragons). Afterwards, a fair bit of Dracula's air force is either ranged or resistant enough to poison to make a difference in the ground battle. Also, some of these forces are Light based, which means they might be able to hurt the Shadow Lord himself.

Edge: Dracula

Specialists:

I'm not sure how successful the mind-control worms the Shadow Lord came up will be against Dracula's troops, but let's assume they're able to corrupt weak to mid-level humanoid enemies. The Ols, meanwhile, will be a nasty surprise that might be able to cause problems in the chaos of the battle. However, Dracula's got some dangerous specialists of his own. The Succubi, especially, my be able to prey on the fact that Grey Guards do have individual minds. Doppelgangers, meanwhile, should at least be able to match the Ols, again sowing chaos in the Shadow Lord's ranks.

Edge: Matched

Lieutenants.:

This is where things start really getting interesting. Dracula's got warriors like Death, Shaft, Isaac, and a lot of others. The Shadow Lord, however, has the likes of Thaegan and her children, the Guardian, some of the Sister guardians, and a few creatures that are beholden to him like Reeah. Thaegan especially would be very difficult to kill unless Dracula could figure out that blood needed to be drawn from the one place she wasn't shielded. She'll probably take out a lieutenant or two of Dracula's as well as a lot of soldiers, but eventually she'll get unlucky (or the Succubi/Doppelgangers will figure out her weakness from rumors) and she'll be killed. Once she's gone, her children will quickly fall, especially if they can be tricked into undermining each other by Dracula's specialists. On Dracula's side, the most effective lieutenant would undoubtably be Death. Since he can fly, he could aid in cleaning up the Ak-Baba before using Dracula's air superiority to strike at weak points. He's also smart enough to act on his own, and if there were a single enemy that would kill Thaegan once her weakness is discovered it's likely to be Death. In the end, I think Dracula's lieutenants are more dangerous and numerous.

Edge: Dracula

Leaders:

This is the only place where the Shadow Lord might have a real advantage. Dracula's powerful, certainly, but he can only directly influence one place at a time. The Shadow Lord, meanwhile, can reach over much larger areas, and may be able to hold his air force together against what should be a massacre (or at least prevent Dracula's air force from causing too much trouble). However, Dracula is far from powerless, and his Demonic Megiddos may be able to harm the Shadow Lord. He's also a proven tactician from his time as Mathias, while the Shadow Lord never showed any particular strategic brilliance. I give an overall edge to the Shadow Lord, but it's not as big as some of the other edges.

Slight Edge: Shadow Lord

Overall, Dracula's army is just so much more versatile than the Shadow Lord's: the former is a threat as soon as he arrives, while the latter needs to plan and scheme, often for centuries, before he becomes a serious danger.

I'm interest what you think.
